About CompanionTested
A comparison site that runs every AI companion platform, including its own, through the same six-point checklist and prints the results. This page documents who operates the lab, how the method works, and why we think a vendor-owned site can still be useful.
CompanionTested compares AI girlfriend and AI companion apps for adult readers. The product is the checklist: six criteria, applied identically to eleven platforms, with pass, partial, or fail logged per criterion and every verdict labeled as an editorial characterization of publicly stated features. No mystique, no vibes, no invented statistics. If a chip on this site says pass, you can go check why.
How we work
The method is documented twice: on our methodology page and in full in our testing methodology write-up. The procedure in brief: every platform is assessed against chat quality, voice, image generation, NSFW policy, free entry, and pricing model, with weightings disclosed. We re-run the checklist quarterly, and sooner after major feature or policy changes; the report date on each page reflects the last pass.
- Same checklist, every platform. Including ours. When a rival passes a criterion our product also passes, both rows say so.
- Hands-on and criteria-based. Verdicts rest on each platform's publicly stated features and policies plus our own use of the category, characterized honestly.
- No fabricated data. No invented testing-hours figures, no made-up user counts, no fake third-party aggregates, no invented testimonials. Scores are labeled editorial scores.
- Corrections loop. Spot a stale or wrong verdict? Email [email protected]. We re-check against the criteria and update the page and its date.
Who we are
This site is run by the CompanionTested editorial desk, operated by the team behind Swipey AI. Checklist results and reviews carry one consistent byline, our test lead, so a single accountable desk stands behind every verdict instead of a rotating cast of anonymous freelancers.

We build Swipey AI and we run this lab; the byline just means one desk owns the results.

Why trust a site owned by a vendor?
Don't trust it; check it. That is the honest answer, and the site is built to make checking easy. The criteria are published before the conclusions. The weightings are disclosed, including the one that favors our own pricing model. Rival wins are logged in plain text: Character.AI's chat quality and free tier, Candy AI's image generation, Nomi's memory, Replika's companionship focus. Every factual claim maps to a platform's publicly stated features, and everything that is our judgment is labeled as our judgment. A comparison that concedes nothing convinces no one.
